What’s happening @ Elder’s Mills!
Congratulations to the Boys Soccer Team – Tournament Champions Once Again!
The Boys Soccer Team has done it again! They won the tournament yesterday, showing incredible skill, teamwork, and determination. We are so proud of their achievement. Go Eagles! 🦅⚽
Gardening Club:
The Gardening Club, with the support of parent volunteers and School Council, has completed their work, and the front of the school looks beautiful! Flowers have been planted, garden beds mulched, and the space is full of colour and life. As we head into the summer, we are looking for help to keep the garden thriving. If you’re available to stop by and water over the summer months, please let the School Council know. Your help is greatly appreciated!
Amusement Park Design @ EMPS!
Grade 4 students recently wrapped up their combined English and French “STEMtastic” project, where they designed their very own amusement parks! Integrating Science, Math, Coding, and Literacy, students brought creativity and critical thinking together in a truly cross-curricular experience. The project culminated in presentations to other classes on June 11, where the pride in their work was clear and the energy in the space was vibrant and joyful. It was a fantastic celebration of learning, innovation, and fun!
The Student Showcase has arrived!!!!
Thursday June 19, 2025 from 6:30-8:30 pm.
Families will be entertained by the many talented musicians and dancers here at EMPS!
Details have been shared with performers and their families on https://yrdsb.schoolcashonline.com/.
Medication at School – Important Reminder for Parents
If your child needs to take any medication during the school day—including pain or allergy medication—please inform the school office in advance.
All medication must:
- Be brought to the office upon arrival
- Be clearly labeled with your child’s name
- Remain in its original packaging
In addition, a Self-Administration of medication form must be completed and submitted with the medication. Forms are available at the school office or can be accessed using the link.
Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our students safe.
Report Cards - Access in the Family Dashboard
As we reach the end of the school year, schools will be sharing student report cards by June 30 for elementary schools and July 10 for secondary schools. Report cards will be available in the Family Dashboard until July 30. You will receive an email when your child’s report card is available.
For families who do not yet have a Family Dashboard account, you can sign up for an account at any time at family.yrdsb.ca. You can find information on how to create an account on the Board website or in this instructional video.
The Family Dashboard gives parents/guardians secure one-stop access to information and applications related to your child’s education. It is designed to make it easier for families to engage with their child’s education.
Please note, you can still request a printed copy of your child’s report card if you prefer by contacting your child’s school.
As we wrap up the school year, we also want to remind families that it’s important that the school has updated contact information for students and parents/guardians, including home address, phone numbers, email address and emergency contacts. This will ensure that the school can contact families in case of emergency, and also that you continue to receive important communications and updates from the school. Please contact the school directly with any changes.
Moving or Not Retuning to EMPS in September?
Safe Arrival Reminders:
As we break for the summer holidays, we would like to remind families to report any student absences, especially during the first week of school. We recognize some families may be on extended vacation, transfer schools or move out of the board area and ask that you contact the school to inform office staff during the last week of August or on the first day of school.
As per Board Policy and Procedures #665.0, Safe Arrivals and Departures – Elementary and Secondary Students, if your child’s absence is still not verified even after exhausting different steps to connect with the family, York Regional Police will be contacted and may be dispatched to your residence.
We remind parent(s)/guardian(s) to update the school with all emergency contact information when changes are made. Thank you for your cooperation in reporting student absences.
Not Returning?
As we plan for the 2025-2026 school year, we kindly ask you to inform the school office if your family has plans to move over the summer, or if your children will not be returning in September for any reason. This information helps us to ensure a smooth transition for all students and to make necessary staffing arrangements for the upcoming academic year.
Your cooperation is greatly appreciated and helps us in planning effectively for the new school year. Thank you for your support.
Help! There is school inventory in your homes!
Please ensure all items belonging to the school, Chromebooks, textbooks, library books, classroom books etc.. are returned to the school.
Thursday, June 26, 2025 - Early Release Day
All schools in the York Region District School Board are committed to improving student achievement and well-being. On Thursday, June 26, 2025 an early release day will take place to allow elementary staff to take part in meetings during the afternoon of that day. These meetings will allow for school staff to engage in culminating activities regarding the review and revision of the School’s Improvement Plan as well as year-end and transition activities that support student success.
As has been our practice in the past, students will attend school during the morning of Thursday, June 26, 2025 only. Students will be dismissed early that day at 12:15 p.m. Arrangements will be made to ensure that students who are normally bused to and from school will receive transportation at this time. Families whose children attend after school child care should make appropriate arrangements to address this change in schedule.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the school.

This Sunday is Father’s Day. Let’s remember to take some time to celebrate all the amazing father figures in our lives—whether that’s a dad, stepdad, grandpa, uncle, big brother, coach, teacher, or anyone who supports, teaches, and cares for us. It’s important to thank these wonderful people for all the ways they help us grow, learn, and feel loved.
