Terry Fox School Run @ Elder’s Mills PS:

Elder’s Mills is such an amazing community of caring, generous, and fun-loving students and families!
Although the rain prevented us from running on Thursday, our families rallied together and raised an incredible $4,286—double our goal!

The students have earned their incentives, and the run will now take place on Monday, September 29th, with beautiful weather in the forecast. Students are encouraged to wear school spirit wear or school colours to celebrate the day.

And, as promised, Mr. Meagher and Mme Korinis will once again join in with their hair in full colour!

Families who wish to donate may continue to do so as  the link remains available.   https://schools.terryfox.ca/68828

Thank you for your support!

Way to go, Eagles

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day - Tuesday, September 30:

September 30th is a day for Canadians to observe both Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This day is a chance to learn about the history and lasting impact of residential schools, which were institutions created to assimilate Indigenous children, erase their cultures, and perpetrate the genocide of Indigenous Peoples. The day also honours the story of residential school survivor Phyllis Webstad, a member of the Stswecem'c Xgat'tem First Nation, survivor of the residential school system, and the founder of Orange Shirt Day.

We invite YRDSB staff and students to wear an orange shirt on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, to recognize the resiliency, bravery and survival of Residential School Survivors and those who did not come home.

Safety Week

The York Region School Board is committed to ensuring the safety of students, staff, and visitors in the event of an emergency situation. As such, during Safety Week (September 22 - October 3, 2025) and throughout the school year, schools in our Board practise various safety drills, including Fire Drills, Lockdown Drills, Hold and Secure Drills and the newly established Bomb Threat Drill. It is critical that all members of our school community become familiar with emergency protocols as they are designed to keep all of us safe at school. Please refer to Board Policy #669.0 for more information about Emergency Preparedness and Crisis Management.

Practising drills may create some anxiety for some students. If you are concerned about how these situations might impact the mental health and well-being of your child, please contact school administrators, as we have school mental health professionals available to support your child.
