World Teacher’s Day – October 5thWorld Teacher's Day image

World Teacher’s Day is celebrated annually on October 5th to honour teachers around the globe. Since 1994, this special day has been dedicated to recognizing the invaluable role teachers play in shaping our lives.

On behalf of the Elder’s Mills community, we express our deep appreciation for our teachers! They are a caring and dedicated group of professionals who work tirelessly to ensure our students thrive both socio-emotionally and academically in a bilingual environment.

Merci beaucoup à nos enseignants et enseignantes!

    • Classroom presentations/open house
    • Each homeroom teacher will host two 30-minute sessions
      • Presentation/Open house 1:  6:00 - 6:25
      • Presentation/Open house 2: 6:30 - 6:55
      • Exit 6:55 - 7:00
    • Families will have the opportunity to meet the teacher and:
      • Learn about classroom routines, expectations
      • Hear about what the learning themes and goals are for the grade
      • See your child’s classroom
    • Please do not expect the teacher to speak to families about their individual child’s progress.  This evening is intended for an introduction to the classroom, the grade and the teacher.
      • Should you wish to learn more about your child’s individual learning, please arrange to meet or speak with your child’s teacher at a different date and time
      • Formal opportunities to meet with and discuss your child’s progress will be during the Parent/Teacher conferences in November, after Progress Reports are sent home in November

Your child's teacher will communicate further details with you ahead of this event.

Please be reminded that Elder's Mills is a Fragrance/Scent free school.  We ask that families visiting the school on this evening refrain from wearing heavily scented perfumes, colognes etc...

New Entry Routine at Elder’s Mills

Students arriving on foot, by bus, or through the Kiss ‘n Ride will now enter the school through the main doors.

Families are reminded that there is no entry or parking in the front loop at any time. If you are picking up or dropping off your child during the school day, please use the school parking lot off Rota Avenue and either park in a designated spot or wait in the Kiss ‘n Ride zone.

Thank you for helping us keep our students safe and our school traffic flowing smoothly

Lunch Deliveries

We kindly remind families that lunch deliveries (e.g., UberEats, SkipTheDishes, etc.) should not be sent directly to students. For safety and security reasons, all deliveries must first be coordinated through the school office.

If you are arranging for your child’s lunch to be delivered, please notify the office in advance. Unannounced deliveries will not be given directly to students.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and organized environment for all.

Beverages at School?!?

We are noticing an increase in students bringing beverages such as Starbucks or other specialty drinks to consume during instructional time. Please note that only water is permitted in classrooms during instructional time.

If a student brings another type of beverage, they will be asked to place it in their locker, bring it to the office, or dispose of it.

We appreciate your support in reinforcing this expectation so that our classrooms remain focused learning environments.

Lost and Found Display – October 9

Our Lost and Found is filling up! To help items find their way home, all Lost and Found items will be displayed during Meet the Teacher Night on Wednesday, October 9. Parents and guardians are encouraged to take a look and reclaim any belongings.

Any unclaimed items will be donated at a later date.
